Where Does My Church Donation Go?
We are grateful for the donations we receive at King of Kings. While a portion of your gift goes directly to our congregation, you’re also supporting a number of other important causes.
King of Kings is a member of the St. Paul Area Synod of the ELCA. This annual contribution supports the work of the synod both in the eastern Twin Cities and in the global community. Locally, it supports a variety of programs and activities that bolster congregational vitality. Globally, we answer God’s calling through synod companion church relationships in Guatemala and Tanzania. These international connections enrich our ministries by exposing us to global challenges and new perspectives. Together, we work to build up the body of Christ and our world.
Daudi and Kellen Msseemmaa serve as Regional Representatives in East Africa. Their work includes connecting with Lutheran churches in the region and developing relationships between the ELCA and our partners. We have been sponsoring Daudi and Kellen since 2021.

Kilolo, in the Iringa Diocese in Tanzania, has been a King of Kings partner parish for over 20 years. This partnership through the St. Paul Area Synod is part of the Bega Kwa Bega program. The annual gift King of Kings sends to Kilolo Parish is used for building projects, evangelism and healthcare outreach.
The St. Paul Area Synod is part of the Bega Kwa Bega program. In Swahili, Bega Kwa Bega means shoulder to shoulder. This reflects the way we aspire to relate to one another—as equals and companions in ministry. The pillars of the companion relationships are prayer, presence and projects. Through Bega Kwa Bega, King of Kings supports Kilolo in several ways, but especially with scholarships.

The ELCA Young Adults in Global Mission Program invites ELCA young adults ages 21 – 35 into a year-long journey in international service. These young adults are shaped by our global neighbors to become the hands and feet of Jesus in the world. They provide critical support to ministries and projects in communities of need. Over the course of the year, volunteers take time for self-reflection to consider their sense of identity, God’s work in the world and their place within it all.

King of Kings serves 300-375 meals at St. Matthew’s Church in St. Paul on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. Due to the increase of clients coming through along with the cost of food supplies, we have increased this budget line in 2024.
Camp Wapogasset is a Lutheran Bible Camp located near Amery, Wisconsin. It offers year-round opportunities, but with specific focus on summer camps for youth and families. King of Kings has supported Camp Wapo annually since 2019.

It is located in an extremely remote village, El Porvenir, in northwestern Guatemala. With only 14 families in the village, Espiritu Santo supports a small elementary school with 9 students. Lutheran Social Services grounds their work on two principles– God loves all people without condition and God yearns for us to love our neighbor. These principles call on us to ensure that children and families will have safe homes, people with disabilities will have access to social services and older adults will have a choice in the services they need.
